Thursday Thoughts
HAPPY THURSDAY! Haha I’m sure you’re all very glad the weekend is near, however I’m freaking out! I have a million things to do and I’m running out of days to do it! I am excited though because I’ve got some Girls on the Run stuff to do on Saturday, and Blogger Bookclub on Sunday! And no need to worry about the first day of school: I only have one class! Haha. But while I’m kicking my To Do list’s butt, here are some Thursday Thoughts!
1. At first when I realized I’d be in Chicago with nothing to do for a week before school started, I had no idea what I was going to do. Now I feel like I need 3 weeks. My To-Do list is insane. I spent 4 hours cleaning my kitchen Wednesday morning and still didn’t finish…
2. I loved Lindsay’s post on not judging other bloggers, but working on yourself. It’s definitely something I was thinking about a lot after Healthy Living Summit, but she is so right! We aren’t here to judge others, we here to just be the best person we can be!
3. Who’s excited for the first day of school!?!?! Haha year 7 of upper-level education (and year 23 of school in general), here we go!
Trying to do my casebook reading on the first day of 3L.

4. I finally got to catch up with this lovely lady after all my travels, and I hope to be seeing this one sometime soon now that I’m back in Chicago! I’ll say it again and again, what I love about blogging is all the friends I make! And I definitely miss all my new friends from HLS!
5. Ummmm, what happened to Hey Runner Girl!?!?! There hasn’t been a new picture since JUNE! I need me some Ryan Gosling and running!
6. Just in case you were worried (and I KNOW you were!) you can still donate to my Girls On The Run Solemate fundraising for the Chicago Marathon!
7. My new favorite song is “whistle” by Flo Rida. It’s so inappropriate and I can never sing it out loud in public, but it’s so CATCHY. So catchy…
8. If you’re a Harry Potter fan with obscene amounts of free time, you should check out Pottermore. They are releasing each book one at a time and the second one came out a couple weeks ago! I will be doing that today…
p.s. I got placed in Gryffindor. Duh.
9. Molly wanted to show you all her “wiggle.” This is what she does when she has so much excitement she cannot contain it! Please ignore my commentary….
Do you find yourself judging others too often?
Does your pet do anything funny?
Haha the wiggle is pretty funny! Whenever my dog wakes up, she stretches out and army crawls along the floor and then goes into the perfect downward dog! I’m yet to capture it on camera!
that is too cute!! Molly does the downward dog stretch as well!
Oh my gosh – Molly is so adorable!!!
She says thank you.
I was placed in Ravenclaw on Pottermore!! Definitely thought I was a Hufflepuff! (Not surprised you’re a Gryffindor though!) Your thoughts make me smile, so thank you for that! Best of luck with the rest of your to-do list … They’re ever-growing and that’s what I hate about them, but accomplishing things and being able to check them off makes it worth it!
Haha I thought I was going to be in Hufflepuff as well!!!
That’s hilarious! I definitely know (and love) that I have lots of Hufflepuff traits in me (and embrace all of them) — it’s a house that will always be in my heart but believing that I can be a Ravenclaw as well boosted my self-esteem. (Is it weird that something as insignificant and inaccurate as Pottermore could do that …? Hope not!)
Just read Lindsay’s post and it is awesome! She makes such a great point. Usually when I judge others it’s because I’m uncomfortable with some related aspect of myself (like if I judge others for eating too little, it’s because I’m uncomfortable with how much I eat). I’ve really started to understand that this summer and it’s something I’m working on!
I do the same thing with eating – but I have to remind myself that we are all different and in different places in our journey and if this is how much I need to eat then so be it, no matter what anyone else is doing!
Aww Molly!! So cute! Milo does the same thing and smacks his tail on everything, I have no idea how it doesn’t hurt. Good luck with 3L year! It will be over before you know it!
Hahahaha that’s so cute!!!!
Good luck for getting ready for school, you will kick butt.
Haha thanks, I’ll do my best!
I am going to Pottermore right after I comment here… certainly sounds like my kind of website! Also, I haven’t read Lindsay’s post yet, but I will soon, I have a feeling I will be able to relate… oh you know, just a bit 😉 Molly is so adorable too, the wiggle is great
Hahaha I think you will, as I definitely did. And let me know what house you end up in! (on pottermore…)
Good luck with 3L! (that trouble with laziness definitely didn’t go away for me….but I made it through!)
Haha I’m afraid of the laziness, I’ll have to just focus!
I am soooo guilty of being miss judgy pants. But I try to curb it. I swear. Except for that chick over at…
I know the getting back into study feeling. I’m currently writing an honours thesis. But then I had to check my reader, and now I’m here…
That to do list is nuts. Best of luck!
lol I always take quick breaks online when I’m working, I just can’t focus for that long!
Yes, I do find myself judging other people at times (not out loud, just in my head), but I always try to catch myself and ask “Is this REALLY a good idea? Is judging this person truly a positive/noble/helpful thing to do?” And, of course, the answer is always no!! I just try to remind myself that judging other people–especially when I barely know them–is a foolish and rather shallow thing to do. Good luck with school!! I have my first community college class tomorrow–a 5 hour anatomy/physiology class, which should be fun:) And our 6-month old puppy does the “wiggle” as well when she is excited or hyper–which is basically 80% of the day…
Haha I judge people in my head all the time, I have to force myself to snap out of it! Good luck on your class, I don’t think I could focus for 5 hours!
Good luck getting ready for school girl.. oh & Molly is adorable!!
Thanks, Jessie! (molly says thanks too!)
Oh she’s so sweet lol
I agree with #7! So, so catchy! My spin teacher even played it in class!
Haha I can’t get it out of my head today!
Aww I love Molly! It was SO good to catch up with you too! 🙂 Love you!
I think she’d love you too! (granted, she loves everyone who pets her) Love you too!!!
I love your Gif’s. They are hilarious. Molly looks so adorable. Im sometimes miss judge-y when I meet new people. I keep it to myself. Have a great thursday.
My boyfriend just started 3L this week so I definitely recognize that casebook reading glaze lol. Wishing you good luck with school!
Good luck to him too!!!
Oh my gosh!! It’s like she’s wagging her entire body she’s so excited! I love it. I also love that food for book club is on your to-do list. I’m can’t wait for Sunday!!
Lindsay’s post is an interesting contrast to a lot of what’s been going around the HLB community over the past couple of days, but I’m not sure I can 100% get on board with what she said. I mean, yeah, of course I realize that it’s not my place to judge people, but I do think there’s a difference between judging from a place of criticism or with the intention of being mean and calling people out for genuinely destructive behavior. I don’t think that’s judgment — I think that’s being responsible. We like to talk all the time about how we’re an HLB community. Communities take care of each other. Communities watch out for each other. Communities don’t let their members engage in unhealthy activity and turn a blind eye to it or let it slide for the sake of not being “judgmental.” Being flawed yourself doesn’t mean you have no right to try to reach out to someone in a dangerous place. In fact, I think that gives you more responsibility to reach out to that person — “I’ve been where you are, I am where you are, and because of that I’m uniquely qualified to help you.” OF COURSE there’s a way to do this in a love and there’s a way to do this in hate, and the line between those marks the difference between compassion and judgment. But I think getting too caught up in a desire to not judge others silently gives them permission to continue destroying themselves, and that’s unacceptable for a group that champions themselves on being a community.
This is a really great point, Bethany! I definitely struggle with whether or not to reach out to people, I know I’ve done it in the past and they can get very defensive about any issues they’re having. For me, I try and wait for a person to reach out or make a hint that they want help, unless I know them very well! But I love what you say about how this is a community and we’re here to support one another, it’s so true. I’m glad I’ve been honest about my previous calorie counting problems and my current struggle with binge eating, it was hard at first but the support I got from all of my readers was amazing!
What exactly is pottermore? I’m intrigued (and at work so I cant check it out!).
omg you HAVE to check it out. It’s a little confusing but you’re put in a house and then you’re on that “team” and you can earn points by doing things like spells and potions. The other part is that you journey through the books, so I’ve been through book 1. You collect things and read interesting background facts about the book and JK Rowling. Aka it’s a great time waster for HP fans. I don’t really try and get points but I loved going through the first book, it was just fun!
Umm.. that is awesome! It’s on my to-do list for tonight 😛
four hours cleaning in one day?! haha you are a superstar. i do that much cleaning in like, um, a year. haha jk. kind of…
Lol I had to do 4 because I NEVER clean!
I really like that song from Flo Rida too!! Nothing wrong with a good beat! 😉
I’ve not read Lindsay’s post yet, but no, I don’t often judge others…and when I do, it’s because I am feeling insecure. However, there is a difference between judging someone, and being genuinely worried for someone<—but it comes from LOVE and not from a place of insecurity. BIG difference.
Molly is SO cute!
I totally agree – big difference between judging and concern! Haha and Molly says thanks! She thinks she’s pretty cute too.
i’ve been reading for a while and have never commented…but just had to say CHEERS to the last first day of school ever! i’m starting my 3l year monday, too! (finally haha)
and i’m so glad to hear that someone else likes “whistle”…i though i was the only one! literally after the first time i heard it, i immediately bought it on itunes – not embarrassing or anything.
Yay for your last first day too!!! Haha and a lot of people have come out saying they love the song too! It’s just soooo catchy…
I graduated from college 2 years ago and ever since I have made it my goal is eliminate being judgemental as best I could. I would have to say that I’ve cut it out about 70% since. It has not been easy, but well worth it!
That’s pretty good! Something I definitely work on every day!
oh goodness she is so cute! If you asked me a few weeks ago, I would have been *pumped* to start school again… now I just want the summer days to last forever.
Haha I know what you mean, I want to keep extending this week!
School starts on Monday for me as well..Def mix of emotions. I’m excited but at the same time dreading my ridiculously long commute..and just juggling everything while staying sane. But I’m ready to learn! Molly is soo adorable! She shakes her butt better than I ever will 😉
Haha she certainly has some great moves!
The Molly wiggle made my night! Haha! Thanks so much for sharing that with us; now I know exactly what you were talking about on Sunday. 🙂
Cheers to the last first day of school! 23 years of education requires serious dedication! And I’m missing all of my new HLS friends too. I’m ready for next summer to be here NOW. 🙂
Haha I know! I’m already curious where HLS will be next year!
i cannot get over how cute molly is, seriously. i need a dog like yesterday.
Haha I know, right?
Molly is so cute!
