Thursday Thoughts

August 2, 2012

Ahhhhh, it’s Thursday! Haha despite having Monday as a sick day, I seriously felt like it was Thursday all day yesterday! I couldn’t get it out of my head! Now tomorrow is going to be disappointing because I’ll have to go to work wishing it were the weekend! I’m just glad this is one of my “problems” today and not something worse! S

peaking of, I need to keep up with my thankful lists! I used to do these all the time and I haven’t in about a week – it’s a great way to start the morning! Just list off all the things you’re thankful for: from big things like family or a husband, or child, to little things like your hair looking extra amazing today.

Alright, time for some Thursday Thoughts!

1. Yes, I realize yesterday was August 1st and that I should be re-capping my July Goals and putting up new August Goals. However, Wednesday and Thursday posts are already taken up! So those goals will just have to wait until tomorrow!

2. My birthday is at the end of October. I will be accepting gifts starting tomorrow:

boots.boots.boots.

Frye 'Melissa Trapunto' Boot | Nordstrom

3. I have officially tried all the Kit’s Organic flavors. My absolute favorite is still cashew, with peanut butter making a close second! The other two, almond berry and chocolate almond coconut, are still pretty good. All around I’m a fan of these bars!

4. Can anyone guess what BIG EVENT is happening on August 5th!?!? It’s a big day! Take a guess!

5. Yesterday I had to run 7 miles at my goal pace: 9:00min/mile. It was ROUGH. The night before I knew I didn’t want to do it. I woke up and didn’t want to do it. I desperately wanted to run it on the treadmill, but I told myself to not wimp out and just head outdoors and run. It was hard. I wanted to give up. But somehow I managed to pull out the 7 miles at a 9:10 pace. Pretty proud of that one. Good thing I also had the reminder from Janae that a bad run means a good one is coming!

6. Did you read #5? It may be rough sometimes, but I love running:

Run... it's a good day to get out there #FitFluential

.

7.  Does anyone feel like the closer they get to the end of something, the more anxious they are for it to be over? Sometimes I feel that way with a race or run: the closer I get to the end, the harder it is to hang in mentally. Haha, well, I’m at that point with my internship. Including today there are 7 workdays left. It seems like FOREVER.

8. There is a new store in the loop in Chicago. This is going to be dangerous for my bank account.

9. Can anyone just go ahead and find my career for me? Something that I love to do every day and that fits me perfectly? I have a B.S. in Marine Biology I will (hopefully) have a law degree, I am passionate about health and nutrition and I love working with kids, especially girls between the ages of 10 and 16. Oh and I would like a very flexible schedule with little desk sitting. GO!

10. These are funny. Have a good chuckle:

Condescending snow dog.

No joke

You have no idea...

YES

HAHAH (and I found mine by an apple tree....hmmmm)

What do YOU think is happening August 5th?

What makes you push through when things are rough?

Alright, you’ve had a minute, what’s my future job looking like?

Well, I know what I am looking forward to August 5: WOMEN’S MARATHON!!!!! I’m guessing this might be it? I am so flipping excited!

Okay, so weird. I have been enjoying all of the boots you have been pinning bc I am on a mission to get riding boots this year (tried last year and couldn’t find any I liked that were in my price range). I even almost tweeted you yesterday to tell you to keep pinning them. Then I realized that I won’t have any money to buy boots. THEN I realized that I can just ask for some for my birthday…. October 30 🙂

    • August 2, 2012 7:21 am

      THAT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! October 30th!!!

      • August 2, 2012 11:07 am

I think I remember you saying that – you are my only birthday buddy that I know of! We better be seeing some boots on October 30!

        • August 2, 2012 12:05 pm

really? weirdly I know a ton of people with my birthday. Two girls in my grade growing up, and my randomly assigned freshman year roommate to name a few!

  2. August 2, 2012 7:05 am

oh my god.. I especially loved the channing tatum one! might have to save that one.. cracks me up hahaha! I just found your blog via Ashley and Im glad I did 🙂 I cant wait to read more! i love running !! trying to get back into it .. I am currently doing a little cleanse and I ran this morning before the sun came out (well the sun was out already, but the temperatures were still moderate)

    • August 2, 2012 10:54 am

I LOVE Ash! She’s a blogging buddy of mine! Thanks for reading, I’m glad you enjoy it! Good luck with running, it can be hard to pick up a habit again but once you do it feels like you’ve always done it!

  3. August 2, 2012 7:09 am

Love all those little pinterest quotes! I am glad you felt that way after your run, I am the same way. I know I never regret it after I do. Those boots are awesome, so freaking awesome.

  4. August 2, 2012 8:01 am

I bet you are referring to my half birthday on Aug. 5 : ) Very special day!! I need to check out the new Target in the loop!!

  5. August 2, 2012 8:22 am

Boots make me excited for fall 🙂 Even though I’ll be living in Texas where there is no fall! Love the slides – genius! You could be legal counsel for Girls on the Run? I feel like every organization has legal counsel these days!

    • August 2, 2012 10:56 am

Good idea – I’ve thought about that one but they usually hire one lawyer, not a team, and since I have no real experience I would be under-qualified 😦 Good idea though!

  6. August 2, 2012 8:28 am

I love the running quotes! Seriously, everyday with a run is a good day!

  7. August 2, 2012 8:38 am

LOVE all those boots! I need/want some new ones this year too. I have a feeling they will be on my Christmas list… 😉

  8. August 2, 2012 8:49 am

#9, I hear that! I’ve been working in web design for the past 2 years and while it’s awesome I hate the fact that it’s an 8-5 desk job and has nothing to do w/ my other hobbies. ugh.

  9. August 2, 2012 8:53 am

If you figure out #9, will you please share it with me??? LOL

  10. August 2, 2012 9:17 am

So. Many. Cute. Boots. I’m actually getting kind of sick of wearing sandals all the time…is that weird? Possibly. It’s also probably related to the fact that I have a grand total of two pairs that I rotate between, and I’m really bored with them.

    • August 2, 2012 11:01 am

lol I have 2 pairs of flats that I’ve been rotating through for my internship… soooo bored. haha

I love that picture of the running quotes and those memes! My guess is that you are going to be an environmental lawyer? I love love love those boots 😀

  12. August 2, 2012 9:52 am

i have an idea…what if we split the tory burch riding boots and did some type of a boot-share/time-share esque situation where we get to each keep them for a month at a time? sound like a plan? i LOVE those boots.

my 7 miler yesterday was HORRIBLE. great job on finishing so close to your goal time!

oh and i love that huskie quote. maybe i should start running with a sled behind me 🙂

    • August 2, 2012 11:02 am

lol I couldn’t even afford 1/4 of those boots! Haha and perhaps pulling a sled while training will make us faster for the marathon!?

      • August 2, 2012 12:31 pm

okay, so we need two other people to join in on this boot-share sitch. i’m sure we can find someone. it’ll be like sisterhood of the traveling boots! and girl – at this point i don’t care HOW fast i finish, i just hope to at least cross the start line. my runs have been so rough lately 😦

        • August 2, 2012 1:08 pm

rough runs happen!!! I got so frustrated before my first half because EVERY run was rough! Try scaling back a bit this week (since it’s the pull back week) and let your legs rest!

I feel the same way when I get close to the end of something. Tomorrow is my last organic chemistry test for the summer and the very last thing I want to do it study!!! My mind has moved on to other things, I am anything but mentally committed.

  14. August 2, 2012 10:08 am

I think we’re on the same page today. Your #9 is a lot like what I wrote about in my post today!

  15. August 2, 2012 10:18 am

Hahaha. Disney is so right. Going to be spending more time in the forest from here on out 😉

  16. August 2, 2012 11:39 am

HAHA. LOVE those Pinterest quotes–my fav is the Disney one for sure 🙂 I found my husband under an apple tree, so I guess it works?!

I think Aug 5th is YOUR blog anniversary. Am I right?!!!?

    Love the boots.

And one day you’re perfect job will show up–it’s all about patience, hard work, and putting feelers out there.

    • August 2, 2012 12:09 pm

Ahhh I know, gotta have faith and patience! I’m such a worrier, especially when everyone keeps asking!!! And I need to go find an apple tree ASAP. And I will let you know if you’re right on the 5th… 😉

  17. August 2, 2012 4:23 pm

Hahaha I love those pictures. So funny! And now I feel bad for huskies. Also, yes, I totally feel like it’s harder to hang on when it gets closer to the end of stuff. Like school. I’m about to graduate college in December and I know this semester is going to be hell haha. Longest semester EVER.

I LOVED EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE POINTS YOU MADE!!! Seriously – I was reading and kept thinking: “This is awesome!”, “This is more awesome!”, “Is it possible that this is even MORE awesome?!”, “Ooh! Pretty boots!!”. haha. Congrats on the run (pushing through is never fun… but it creates such a great sense of accomplishment after!), and as for the job, life has such a great way of falling in to place. A good friend/co-worker of mine told me “There will always be great jobs for great people” – chin up, you’re a great person and you’ll get a great job totally meant for you. 🙂

    • August 3, 2012 9:22 am

Haha I’m glad we’re on the same wavelength! And thanks for the advice!! I need to relax and just keep doing what I do and hopefully I’ll find something!

  20. August 2, 2012 10:16 pm

You’re referring to my birthday of course on August 5th! 😉 Kidding…kind of…but I’m pumped for Sunday too – MARATHON DAY!!

Love all those boots.. and seeing them makes me realize I really need/want a new pair. My bank account says thank you 🙂 Great job on finishing the 7 miler girl even if it was tough. Not giving up is what makes for a great runner!

    • August 3, 2012 9:25 am

Haha so sorry for your bank account! Mine certainly can’t afford them!
