Thursday Thoughts

July 26, 2012

Hey everyone! Happy Thursday! I hope you are all having a good week, only two days left until the weekend! I’m excited for today (okay, to get through today) because I get to see this amazing woman tonight! I’m sure you could have guessed it; today is another round of Thursday Thoughts! I have a lot of interesting ones this week, and only the last is pinterest inspired!

1. When I was at Trader Joe’s on Saturday I saw that they are FINALLY carrying Chia seeds! The bag was actually pretty small, so I’m not sure if it’s really that good of a deal, but it’s a great way for those of you who haven’t tried Chia seeds to get them without spending $13 on a larger bag.

2. I miss waking up to this:

3. I have been obsessed with protein ice cream and making various flavors. This one had PB2 powder and cocoa powder in it – BEST FLAVOR YET! Soooo good! Definitely tasted both the peanut butter and the chocolate! I also learned from Laura that you can use water instead of milk and it turns out the same (and is CHEAPER! I was going through milk too fast!)

4. Last Friday there was NO ONE in my office. Seriously. One person out of the 12 lawyer section I work in was there… So I made a standing desk for a while. It was good entertainment.

5. I am obsessed with this book. It finally became available at the library and I cannot stop reading it!!!! Seriously, what is this annoying place I have to go to during the day called an “internship” when I should be reading non-stop!?!?

6. I discovered this site thanks to this lady and lost about an hour of my life. Sooooo worth it. Love Kristen Wiig.

7. Molly loves to “hunt” bunnies. By “hunt” I mean stare at them intently for 10 minutes. I gave up trying to pull her away and just sat down next to her.

8. Zucchini oatmeal rocks. I made my regular apple pie oats, but instead of putting in chopped apple, I put in zucchini! It’s best to grate the zucchini, but I had spiralized my zucchini to make zucchini pasta but discovered the zucchini was a bit too old for that and didn’t hold a good pasta shape. So I put it in my oatmeal and added in some walnuts as well! Zucchini Bread Oats!

9. You all are amazing. Seriously. The comments and e-mails that I get from readers mean the world to me. I made this blog to connect to anyone who might relate to me and parts of my life, but I had no idea how many women would appreciate my writing.

Since you all make me feel so much better during a difficult time, I want to make you all feel better today with some great pinterest finds. Mostly stolen from Ashley and Annette

Just laugh!

:)

word

Always be thankful

amen

Great motivational stuff there! I love waking up to rain 😀 And getting to go back to bed because that means I can’t meet my pal for a swim at 6:30am at the outdoor pool. And then not being able to sleep but having time to read blogs and online shop before work… 🙂

  2. July 26, 2012 7:26 am

Life is better when you are laughing! I have been loving PB2, I seriously just tried it and now can’t get enough. I need to go buy more!

  3. July 26, 2012 7:54 am

I am a teacher so I am pretty much on my feet all day!

    • July 26, 2012 9:22 am

Ah I’m jealous! I need to find a job where I don’t have to sit at a desk all day, it drives me crazy!

  4. July 26, 2012 8:08 am

That’s so exciting that TJ’s has chia seeds! At first I thought they were a fantastic deal, but you’re right, the weight per package is much lower than with othe brands.

Your Molly looks so sweet “hunting” her bunnies! My Sheltie would be chasing after them as soon as she saw them. The joys of having a herding dog. 🙂

  5. July 26, 2012 8:14 am

I think something is wrong with me. I LOVED Divergent but for some reason I can’t get into Insurgent. I read half of it and haven’t gone back to it in months!

  6. July 26, 2012 8:17 am

I hate going to work when I’m in the middle of a good book! I’m dealing with that now while I read the newest Sookie Stackhouse book 😦

  7. July 26, 2012 8:18 am

i read the divergent and insurgent books. SO GOOD! someone told me that if you like those to also read the maze runner series.

    • July 26, 2012 9:24 am

I actually reviewed the Maze Runner series on my blog – click on reviews and it should be on the books list! I enjoyed them, but not quite as good as Divergent and Insurgent!

  8. July 26, 2012 8:46 am

Favorite thing to wake up to: hubs gets up, pup then cuddles with me and we watch ‘daddy’ get ready for work!

  9. July 26, 2012 8:48 am

aww molly is so cute! you look so pretty in that photo! i usually sit at work but i try to get up regularly to walk around and i stand when i’m on the phone sometimes.

  10. July 26, 2012 9:17 am

Finally, I haven’t been able to find chia seeds anywhere! And Molly continues to be so adorable 🙂

  11. July 26, 2012 9:52 am

I sit all day at work, and it kinda drives me nuts. Although word on the street is barely ANYONE is coming into the office tomorrow, so maybe I’ll stand tomorrow haha. Slash, maybe I’ll go home at noon tomorrow 😛

  12. July 26, 2012 9:52 am

Is that book series really good? I bought the first one and it’s been on my shelf for a few months now. I haven’t read it yet.

  13. July 26, 2012 10:46 am

Zucchini oatmeal – SUCH a good idea! I’m going to have to try that since they are so dirt cheap now.

Also – I really want to read Insurgent. I can’t believe the author is only 22!

Being a teacher, I’m constantly standing! I love the zucchini bread oatmeal! Looks fantastic!

    • July 26, 2012 3:12 pm

ah I’m jealous! I hate sitting all day!

Haha When you’re in heels from 8-3 on your feet, sometimes you wish the opposite too! The grass is always greener…. 🙂

        • July 27, 2012 2:55 pm

lol I certainly wouldn’t wear heels, I’m a flats girl all the way! Haha I’d probably trip about 20 times an hour in heels… it’s embarrassing. haha

Lol I wore flats when I taught first because I was literally running around the room at times cleaning spills and squatting up and down from desks, but now that I teach fifth I feel like I have to, because otherwise some are taller than me! lol

  15. July 26, 2012 12:51 pm

My mom just sent me the same chia seeds in the mail! I ate them this morning with my oatmeal also. Amazing! I loved reading your about page also. My teammate and I just started a blog and we too are documenting our food and exercise daily. And we are also fans of Carrots’n’cake!

  16. July 26, 2012 1:09 pm

I love zucchini bread oats. Oh She Glows has an awesome recipe for them!

I have to sit at work but I do force myself to get up and move around as much as possible.

    Happy Thursday!

  17. July 26, 2012 2:19 pm

Puppy snuggles are the best to wake up to!

Oooohh a standing desk, now that would be nice, I hate sitting at work all day.

  18. July 26, 2012 2:43 pm

YAY! I’m so glad Trader Joe’s has chia seeds!!! Those are so much cheaper than the ones at whole foods!

  19. July 26, 2012 2:44 pm

Ah! TJ’s has chia seeds! I’ve been dying to try them but I can’t find them in any regular grocery. Now I need to make the 4 hour trek home to get them!

I stand at work as I am a dance teacher. I hate to just sit so it works well for me. I’d definitely try your standing method if I worked in an office.

    • July 27, 2012 12:08 pm

lol well it didn’t last long since things were still too low. haha and I looked ridiculous

  22. July 26, 2012 5:05 pm

my fav thing to wake up to is my boyfriend putting our jack russel on the bed next to me to snuggle me 🙂 also, wanted to say u look really pretty standing at your desk! i’ve always wanted a desk job, but now i’m reading these infographics about how sitting is killing us – yikes! ps, loving the kristen wigg tumblr!

  23. July 26, 2012 6:04 pm

The oats sound interesting! And lucky you to have a standing desk – I’ve always wanted one, but always have sitting jobs, boo!

    • July 27, 2012 12:09 pm

oh i don’t actually have a standing desk! I just tried to create one when I was the only person in the office and no one saw how ridiculous I looked!

  24. July 26, 2012 11:56 pm

I stand up at work behind a desk all day at the spa. It took some getting used too, but I am really used to it now. I know it is probably better for me to than sitting all day long.
So glad you finally got Insurgent! I hate that we have to wait a whole year for the final book though…
Great tumblr too, those sites are so addictive and funny! 🙂

    • July 27, 2012 12:10 pm

It’s definitely better! and um, finished Insurgent this morning and didn’t realize the next one isn’t coming out until Fall 2013… that’s so cruel.

  25. July 27, 2012 8:13 am

Love all of your motivational quotes. Thank you so much for sharing! I have been thinking about reading Insurgent. Let me know how you like it 🙂

    Have a wonderful weekend girl!

    • July 27, 2012 12:11 pm

I just finished this morning and LOVED it! So sad the next book isn’t coming out for a year though!!! You have a great weekend too, Jessie!

      • July 27, 2012 9:53 pm

Oh wow, you finished it quick. Thank you for the feedback on it. Just like I told you to add the tortillas to your grocery list, I’ll have to add it to my list of things to buy haha.
