Sunday Funday

June 4, 2012

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was a lot of errands, getting things done, and waaaaaay too many episodes of How I Met Your Mother on Netflix. I’m obsessed.

Yesterday  was up bright and early and headed out on a 6 mile run to get the day started. I’ve found that I’ve got to workout first thing, or it’s just not going to happen. Anyone else like this?

It was completely gorgeous out! The sun was up (it rises around 5:15am here…) and it was breezy and pretty cool for most of the run!

I ran the 6 miles in 56:42 for an average pace of 9:27 min/miles. Here were my splits:

Mile 1 –> 9:48

Mile 2 –> 9:50

Mile 3 –> 9:24

Mile 4 –> 9:11

Mile 5 –> 9:18

Mile 6 –> 9:12

It was a great run, and I’ve been picking up my pace naturally recently, without feeling like I’m pushing it too hard. I guess it’s the great weather!

I finished further from home than I usually do (I didn’t do an out and back, I just kind of ran around various areas until I hit 6), so as I was walking the last bit home I stopped to stretch. Figured I should take advantage of the gorgeous weather!

After my run I got my laundry started and went to Trader Joes. Then it was time for brunch with my neighbor in the building. Last time we went out to brunch we went to Orange, and we had to have a repeat! This time I got a scramble with asparagus, roasted red pepper and mushrooms. Delicious! I also got their Frushi (fruit sushi) but forgot to take a picture! It was so good.

I spent the rest of the afternoon watching plenty more How I Met Your Mother, finishing up my laundry, going to Whole Foods, cleaning up my apartment and making my lunches for the whole week! Haha thrilling, right? I thought so.

Later on I met up with my brother and sister-in-law at a restaurant that has a dog-friendly patio, so of course Molly had to come along!

We ordered the Beer Cheese as an appetizer… Lol I don’t get the beer part? But it’s not bad.

Harrison and I weren’t very hungry so we split the veggie burger. It was DELICIOUS! With some sweet potato fries. Please ignore the fact that I took the photo after I ate the burger…

So many people walked past our table with frozen yogurt that I basically HAD to get some… Completely necessary.

What’s your favorite way to start the day?

Do you know any restaurants that are dog-friendly?!

It is completely necessary to get frozen yogurt – especially since you get a free one every week!

haha it wasn’t from the free place! That’s too far away… lol I do need to go there this week (“need”)

I feel the same way about workouts but since I started an 8-6 job I have to workout at night. It’s been quite the adjustment!

I only recently started working out first thing in the morning and it’s been tough! I basically trained myself to run mid-day or in the afternoon so early morning runs are still challenging!

great job on your run! and i agree, frozen yogurt is always completely necessary. 😉

I agree with you completely. Getting a workout in to start the morning is my favorite way to start the day. And I love Molly, she is beautiful!

I have to start my day with a workout too – even if I’m taking the day off, I like to at least go for a walk. It’s my coffee – without it I’m a little grumpy 🙂

With respect to the weekends, I couldn’t agree more! If I don’t get in a workout first thing in the morning, it just doesn’t happen! Ps…love the mizzou shirt! 🙂

I am the same way – if I don’t run as soon as I get up its just not going to happen.

  15. June 4, 2012 6:46 pm

i’m definitely the same- i love working out in the morning! otherwise it’s so easy to let it slide later in the day.

your brunch and that cup of froyo look so good!

i love working out in the morning because it wakes me up, and it’s easier to get it out of the way rather than having it hang over me!

I completely agree… I HAVE to work out in the morning, or I’ll find every excuse to get myself out of it! And wow! Frushi? Never heard of that before!
