WIAW–On a Loooooong Day

February 8, 2012

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Another Wednesday means another What I Ate Wednesday! For those of you who are new to WIAW, be sure to head over to Peas and Crayons to check it out, and possibly find some great new blogs or recipes!

Peas and Crayons

Today’s WIAW is all from Monday, which is a ROUGH day for me! But I can’t complain, because it’s my only bad day of the whole week! I actually had my ONLY class on Tuesday cancelled, so I got to stay home and get all my work done there, rather than commuting downtown to school! It was lovely….

Anyway, back to Monday! Mondays are rough because I have class from 8:30am to 6:00pm, which means that I leave my apartment at 7:30am and I get back at 7:00pm. And by the time I’m heading for that bus home, I’m not a happy camper and usually pretty exhausted…

5:05 am – Wake up Call

I got up at 5:05am (yes, I needed those extra five minutes), threw on my gym clothes and headed to the gym to get in the Workout A from NROLFW. If you read my post yesterday, you’ll know that I decided to take a break from NROLFW, but that morning I had tried out the first workout from Stage 3 to see how I felt about it.

7:15 am – Breakfast

I managed to catch a bus back, which saved me about 10 minutes of walking. This meant, oats for breakfast! I threw together a quick bowl of oats in the microwave, which include 1/3 C oats, 1/3 C flax milk, 1/3 C water. After microwaving a bit, I added 1/3 C pumpkin and 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, microwaved it a teeny bit again, and then topped it with a T of almond butter! Filling and quick, just what I needed before running to catch the bus!

And yes, I know it looks like poo. Deal with it. Or try it. Because it’s amazing.

11:40am – Snack Time

I ate my breakfast at about 7:15, but I don’t get to eat lunch until 1:15. For those of you not good with math, that’s 6 hours. I do NOT go 6 hours without eating! In between two classes I quickly had an apple (unpictured…) and one of my cinnamon protein bars.

1:15 pm – Lunch!

Just what I needed to tide me over until lunch! For lunch, I had brought two turkey muffins (I made another batch Sunday) so I got a bunch of lettuce and veggies from the cafeteria and broke up my turkey muffin on top to make a salad! It was delicious, I love those muffins!

3:45 pm – Snack Time

Right before my last class, at about 3:45, I snacked on some celery and carrots (yes, I ate all the celery and most of the carrots before I remembered to take a picture) and grabbed some Cinnamon Apple tea from the cafeteria.

5:00pm – Snack 2

My last class is 2 hours long and my teacher likes to take a break halfway through. So during our short break I ate a tangerine that I had already peeled up and brought with me… Sorry no picture. I keep my phone in my bag during class!

We finished up just before 6 and I headed to my locker (yes, we have lockers!) to grab my coat, leave my books, and head for the bus! Lucky me, I just made it in time or I’d have to wait 15 min outside in the cold for another bus!

Fast forward 50 min later and I had made it back into my apartment, and sooo ready for something super quick and easy. I was exhausted and almost tempted to just go to bed… but oh wait, it was 7pm…

7:00 pm – Dinner Time

I ended up making a pumpkin protein muffin from STUFT Mama, and had it with some chocolate “sauce”. For the sauce, I combined 1/4 C plain Greek yogurt, 1 T Chocolate PB2, 1/2 T Cocoa powder and then water to thin it out.

And yes, this is a recycled picture… Just imagine the muffin is brownish orange. I have faith in you.

8:00 pm – Dessert

I read some blogs and watched some Friday Night Lights on Netflix, but I was still a little hungry about 45 min later, so I grabbed a vanilla Chobani and threw a few blueberries on top! Perfect dessert. Oh, and then I practically fell into my bed.

We’ll just pretend I stayed up past 9….

Midnight – Bed time! (Okay, okay, 9:00 pm…)

Do you have one day of the week that’s particularly long (or just feels like it)?

What is your favorite meal/snack to make yourself when you are just exhausted?

vanilla chobani is my favorite! not too sweet. mondays and tuesdays are my busiest at work so they go by fastest. Fridays seem to drag the longest cause i just wnat to get outta there!

fav meal when i’m tired = big bowl of cereal.

I love the vanilla too, sometimes I’ll add a little cinnamon into it! Haha and I miss cereal! There are a few gluten free ones, but I just want my Joe’s Os back…

I usually have long Tuesdays, because we have meetings before school in the morning. I don’t have to wake up earlier because I just move my normal workout to the afternoon, but I’m still not a fan of it messing up my schedule 🙂

I always love to make myself toast when I’m exhausted. Last year when I taught during the day and took class at night, I always came home and ate toast for dinner. Usually while watching Jersey Shore. Or Teen Mom.

    • February 8, 2012 11:18 am

Haha I am also not a fan when my schedule gets messed up. And I haven’t had just toast in ages!

  3. February 8, 2012 10:36 am

i love that cinnamon apple tea! i should buy some the next time i’m at the store… glad you survived your long day – at least you get it over with early on in the week! and strong work on still eating healthy throughout the day. i know it’s challenging when you have a crazy hectic day to keep up with nutritious eats!

    • February 8, 2012 11:19 am

It’s definitely something I’ve had to work on! I used to just hit the vending machine for some kind of sugary bar during the day, or buy food at a take out place, now I try and bring as much as I can myself!

  4. February 8, 2012 10:43 am

Thursdays are my longest and most dreadful school days! Go to snacks have been yogurt bowsl! I can’t get enough of them lately.

  5. February 8, 2012 11:37 am

My Tuesdays are so long feeling – one class at 8 am, one at 2 pm. I at least have time to go home for lunch and work out in between, but it’s such a drag to wake up at 6 and get home again at 5! Not as long as your busy day hours, but I still think it sucks!

    • February 8, 2012 11:54 am

I hope your school isn’t too far from home! I schedule all my classes as close as possible because it’s an hour commute each way!

  6. February 8, 2012 12:43 pm

Mondays are my long days too! I’m out of the apartment for almost 12 hours. My favorite go-to foods are leftovers or oatmeal. The easier the better!

  7. February 8, 2012 12:58 pm

HOLY smokes. That IS a long day. GO you!! Your eats look awesome, though!

  8. February 8, 2012 1:05 pm

Last night I was in bed at 8:42 (mmhm) and lights were out because I was falling asleep reading at 8:54. So pathetic.

  9. February 8, 2012 2:00 pm

Phew that is a long day! You did a great job with your eats though.. it takes some planning but well worth it if you ask me!
My Mondays and Tuesdays are my longest but it’s good to get them over with in the beginning of the week!

  10. February 8, 2012 2:38 pm

Haha, I went to bed at 9 a few times last week too! Feels soooo good to get 8 or 9 hours of sleep!

  11. February 8, 2012 4:48 pm

Mondays are my long day too! I wish I had the dedication to get up early before class and go to the gym! I think eventually I will like a schedule like that but right now I stay up too late to wake up earlier than I need to lol All of your eats look delicious!

    • February 8, 2012 8:11 pm

Haha I did have to go to bed at 9! But it was my only option, I didn’t get home until 7 to eat dinner, so if I worked out after digesting, it would be like 10pm by the time I was done and that is way to late for me!

you should!!! I’m loving them! And I use garbanzo bean flour, which is one of Bob’s Red Mill’s cheapest gluten free flours!

  13. February 9, 2012 11:58 am

Yum, the chocolate sauce sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing the idea 🙂
