Sparkle Sparkle.

Check. It. Out.

I paint my nails, ummm…., about 5 times a year. Max. When my mom said she needed to go get a “buff” (she doesn’t wear nail polish) and asked if I wanted to get a manicure, I was a bit skeptical but thought, “Hey, I’m on vacation! Why not?” I’m heading to North Carolina for New Years to visit my sorority sister from college (I’m actually leaving TOMORROW!) so I thought something festive would be perfect!

I am obsessed and cannot stop staring at my nails.

Go big or go home.

Earlier that day I also saw some old friends, from High School! Okay, not just high school. I probably met them before I could walk, and went to school with them from when we were 2 until we graduated. I love having friends like that know my life history so well! It’s great to reminisce and to catch up on what they are currently doing!

One friend I talked about on a very early blog post, Helen, who is currently working at Lara Little’s, a local candy and chocolate store, and applying to grad schools for illustration! She’s an amazing artist!

My other friend is also an artist! Caroline lives in San Francisco (with her dog, George) and is working at a jewelry store called Frolick Jewelry.

We had lunch at a local restaurant called BRGR. Can you guess what they serve? That’s right, burgers! Caroline is also gluten intolerant, so she wanted to go there since they have gluten free burger buns.

I ordered a normal burger, but got it with bison meat since it’s a lot leaner than normal meat. I also got a side salad to get in some veggies!

No pictures, I completely forgot… Sometimes I forget I write a blog! haha oh well. The burger itself was good, but I wasn’t a fan of the bun. I thought it was really dry and didn’t eat much of it. Caroline really liked it though, although personally I think it’s just because she hasn’t had a real bun in so long, she doesn’t know what she’s missing… Haha.

Caroline and Helen ordered some truffle fries to share, and I have to say they were pretty good! Even better since they came out late and weren’t included on the bill! Free fries always taste better… Overall, I was impressed with BRGR and suggest checking it out if you’re in the area. They had a lot of creative options and several “alternative” burgers and other menu options.

I had a great day catching up with friends, spending some time with my mom, and running a bunch of errands to try and get things together before I head out of town tomorrow! I’ll be going to North Carolina for a few days, and then down to South Carolina for about a day and a half! After that I’ll be heading straight out to Colorado with my mom without even stopping at home! It’s going to be a crazy week but I can’t wait for it!

Do you have friends you’ve known most of your life?

What’s your favorite (or craziest!) nail color?

I know, I wish I did it more often, but I always mess them up before they dry! I’m too impatient…

Love the glitter – I recently painted mine a royal blue with an essie silver glitter top polish. Very festive!

I have a friend who I’ve known for 12 years. Every time I check in with her via text or email, she’s on to a new adventure. I’ll never forget the day she told me she was moving to South America (for a whole year!) to a small village to help teach children to read. She actually deferred vet school for the experience! Friends like that are the ones you really try to stay connected to.

Just an FYI – always ask them to heat the bun. It makes a world of difference with gluten-free bread products. Toasted is great but you have to make sure they use a clean area and don’t cross contaminate it. Most places that carry GF buns will do this for you without question.

I’ve known my two closest friends since preschool. It makes for interesting stories and I love that we’ve stayed close all of these years! It’s great because we can go a month of so without talking but when we see each other its like no time has passed.

I agree! That’s how my friends are, I don’t see them for ages but it’s like we were never apart!

i love your nails! i just got blue sparkles on my toes yesterday! it’s a little wild for me, but not too bad since it’s on my feet. i rarely paint my fingernails either. they chip so easily and takes too much work for me to keep up with them. ha.

bison meat is SO good! i love how lean it is, and i also love the flavor.

Ah! So glad you showed your nails! I was meaning to paint mine sparkly for NYE and you’ve reminded me. I got a lovely glittery red nail varnish for Christmas I’m going to try out 🙂

I love the sparkle nails! For a long time I wasn’t super into painting mine, but have been on a serious polish kick these last few months. These are beautiful 🙂 Have fun in NC!

    Love the nail color!
I had a cheer team reunion monday night with a bunch of old high school friends, the last time we saw each other was 13 years ago.

I rarely get my nails done too but went with my mom this afternoon! I always go for neutral shades like a peach or grey, that way if they chip it’s not as noticeable as if I got a bright pink or red.

Ahh, I’m obsessed with sparkly nails right now, too! They’re perfect for New Year’s! “Go big or go home.” <—Love that philosophy. 🙂

I love coming home during the holidays and catching up with old friends. My group from high school still gets together, and we pick up right where we left off. 🙂

We have a BRGR in DC too! I love that the have gluten free buns! Happy-almost-New Year! xo
